Rep. Latimer’s Team Returns Almost $1.8 Million in Federal Benefits to Westchester and Bronx Residents

August 18, 2025

WASHINGTON, DC – Today U.S. Representative George Latimer (NY-16) announced that in his first eight months in office, his constituent services team has returned $1,762,000 in federal benefits to residents throughout Westchester and the Bronx.

“When people think of Congress, they picture votes and creating laws in Washington, DC,” said Rep. Latimer. “This is important work, but just as vital is what we do for constituents every day: advocating for them, cutting through red tape at federal agencies, and getting results. I am proud of what we have brought home for residents in just the first half of this year.”

In addition to the $1,762,000 in federal benefits Rep. Latimer’s office has secured for the 16th District, they have helped 689 residents on cases of all types. These include: guidance on applications or claims related to Social Security, IRS, Medicare and Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) benefits or resolving pending benefits issues; assistance with USCIS and Department of State on immigration cases and applications; and expedited processing for passport applications.

Rep. Latimer’s constituent services team has held sixteen mobile office hour events throughout the district to bring constituent services directly to residents. More mobile office hours will be announced soon. These mobile office hours are held to augment the assistance residents can receive from both the White Plains and Bronx offices that are open five days a week.
