Westchester Community Health Center
107 West Fourth Street
Mount Vernon, NY 10550
Amount Requested: $635,607.27
Westchester Community Health Center (WCHC), a Federally Qualified Community Health Center serving residents and working families of New York’s 16th Congressional District, is requesting $635,605.27 to purchase and install a 3D mammography machine and to cover the costs of room shielding and electrical/IT work at its Mt. Vernon site. The proposed project allows WCHC to provide on-site breast cancer screening services for residents in the district. According to 2025 Uniform Data System (UDS) reporting submitted to the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), WCHC served 25,896 residents of New York’s 16th Congressional District. While WCHC provides comprehensive health services, it does not currently offer on-site mammography services. Patients requiring breast cancer screening must travel to outside imaging providers, where routine screening appointments are frequently scheduled months in advance.
Federal nexus: The project has a federal nexus because the funding provided is for purposes authorized under the Public Health Service Act.
