Latimer Launches Local Government Outreach
Westchester/Bronx - U.S. Congressman George Latimer has launched an aggressive outreach plan to visit local community governments and their leaders throughout Westchester and Bronx communities.
"For too long, DC representatives were invisible between elections, the local officials in the cities, towns, villages, and community boards of this area. This is a new day of connectivity and cooperation," Latimer said.
In January - his first month on the job in Congress - Latimer will update the Mamaroneck Village Board on Monday, January 27th and the Rye Brook Village Board on Tuesday January 28th. The updates will cover current issues facing Congress, and a discussion of Federal priorities facing each local community. There are 5 cities, 7 towns, 14 villages, and 2 community boards within the 16th District, and the Congressman states, "I intend to visit every one during my term." Latimer has extensive experience in city, county, and state elective office.
Congressman Latimer will participate in two ceremonial inaugurations on Saturday, January 25th at Dreiser Auditorium in Co-Op City and Sunday, January 26th at the Rye High School Auditorium. Both events being at 3 p.m. and are open to the public.
"This is how George Latimer has already served us as a County Legislator, State Assemblyman, State Senator, and as County Executive. I'm glad he's taking the same level of energy into his role in Congress," said Nora Lucas, Mamaroneck Village Trustee.
