Rep. Latimer Visits Bronx VA Medical Center, Meets with Veterans and Staff
BRONX, NY – U.S. Representative George Latimer (NY-16) recently visited the James J. Peters Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Medical Center in the Bronx. In the first few months of the Trump Administration, President Trump and his cabinet have proposed significant cuts to VA staff and healthcare for veterans. Rep. Latimer visited the Medical Center to speak with staff and veterans to hear how he can best advocate for them in Congress.
“Veterans have given so much to our country, and it is our responsibility to take care of them. Many of the staff at the VA Medical Center are veterans themselves, which makes any cuts proposed by President Trump even more unconscionable,” said Rep. Latimer. “I am grateful to the staff at the Medical Center for the thoughtful, veteran-specific care they provide and their creativity to provide the best care. I will do all I can in Congress to expand healthcare, benefits and medical research for veterans and not renege our commitment to veterans.”
Rep. Latimer was joined by his Deputy District Director Tremaine O’Garro who is based in the Bronx office, and local veterans’ advocates Kevin Meggett, Asha Castleberry-Hernandez, and Steve Colon.
