Mount Vernon Armory Preservation and Rehabilitation Project

City of Mount Vernon
1 Roosevelt Square
Mount Vernon, NY 10550

Amount requested: $3,000,000

The City of Mount Vernon seeks to renovate and bring back online the Mount Vernon Armory to expand the city's capacity to provide critical services to residents, including the seniors. The inaccessibility to the Armory created overcrowding conditions and competition for increasingly limited public spaces within the community. The city seeks to re-imagine the Armory as a state-of-the-art three-story Community Wellness and Inclusion Center (the facility currently has two stories) that is multi-functional and dedicated to equity, wellness, and inter-generational programming. The restoration of the Armory will be of tremendous benefit to the federal government to provide a renewed community space to prevent crime and reduce health hazards.

Federal nexus: The funding provided is consistent with purposes authorized in 42 U.S.C.5305(a)(1), 5305(a)(2), 5305(a)(4), and/or 5305(a)(5).
