Bronx Health Sciences High School is requesting funding to modernize and renovate its student cafeteria in order to create a safer, more functional, and more welcoming environment for students. The current cafeteria is heavily used each day and serves as one of the school’s central shared spaces, yet its aging interior conditions no longer reflect the quality of environment students deserve. This request would support a cafeteria modernization project focused on critical interior improvements, including new ceilings, upgraded wall finishes, improved lighting, acoustical improvements, painting, flooring repairs or replacement as needed, and related electrical and finish work.
Federal nexus: The project has a federal nexus because the funding provided is consistent with purposes authorized in 42 U.S.C. 5305(a)(2) and 5305(a)(4).
