WASHINGTON, DC – Today, U.S. Representative George Latimer (NY-16) joined dozens of House Democrats to introduce the Taxpayer Data Protection Act. This legislation is a direct response to Elon Musk’s shameful invasion of Americans’ privacy. The Taxpayer Data Protection Act will stop people with conflicts of interest or without a security clearance from accessing the highly sensitive Treasury Department payment system–which is responsible for Social Security and Medicare benefits.

Neither the vaguely worded executive order nor a follow-up memorandum from Trump's Office of Management and Budget Acting Director Matthew Vaeth and National Economic Council Director Kevin Hassett clarify which projects, programs, and activities are frozen.
