WASHINGTON, DC – Today U.S. Representative George Latimer (NY-16) announced that his office is now taking programmatic and language requests for the Fiscal Year 2026 appropriations process. Local municipalities and eligible non-profit organizations are encouraged to submit.
“Latimer said, where some 500 immigrants were relocated before last year’s election, ‘there was not one incident where any of them tried to vote.’”
“Latimer called for the GOP leadership to pull the bill back and consider Democrat demands that ‘voters whose citizenship is not in question be allowed to modify their status by mail.’’’

WHITE PLAINS, NY – Today U.S. Representative George Latimer (NY-16) was joined by local elected officials and voting rights advocates to denounce the Safeguard American Voting Eligibility (SAVE) Act. This legislation is expected to be brought up in the U.S. House of Representatives next week.
“‘At a time when the current administration is carelessly slashing government services, closing the Social Security hearing office in White Plains will force those seeking benefits to travel long distances — as far away as New Haven and Albany — to fight for their rights,’ said Latimer.”
“Rep. George Latimer, D-Rye, said the proposed annexation of Canada has antagonized our close ally while the tariff threats have set the stage for a damaging trade war that could raise prices on a slew of products.”
“’Every day is another ridiculous proposal from this administration,’ said Latimer. ‘Canada is a sovereign nation and one of our closest allies. Instead of antagonizing an ally and almost starting a trade war, maybe President Trump should focus on lowering costs for New York families.’”
“On Feb. 7, Congressman George Latimer (NY-16) took to the House floor to denounce President Donald Trump’s proposed 25% tariffs on our allies Canada and Mexico. While the tariffs have been delayed by 30 days, the threat of a trade war with our allies and trading partners remains.”
WASHINGTON, DC – Today Congressman George Latimer (NY-16) released the following statement after President Donald Trump said the U.S. Department of Education is a “con job” and called for its immediate closure:
"‘When he makes a decision to cut NIH funding, he may be cutting funding to Burke Rehab in White Plains, which could mean services will be provided at a higher cost... When they have an EO to cut the size and scope of a government agency like Social Security and close it off in White Plains, now it makes it inconvenient for senior citizens.’"
“Rep. Latimer told the Business Journal, ‘I think it’s pretty clear that these individuals put themselves on the line, their lives, their families, everything they had to support the Americans when we were in Afghanistan and they had hoped that we would bring freedom and opportunity to the Afghan people. They became pariahs to the Taliban. Now that we’re gone they’re in dire straits and violence and death may follow if we don’t do what’s right.’”
