WASHINGTON, DC – This week U.S. Representative George Latimer (NY-16), a member of the House Committee on Small Business, voted to pass seven bills that will help small businesses. The bipartisan bills now head to the Senate for a vote.
“According to Latimer, ‘The lack of commitment by the Trump administration to identify a new site is harmful to the 16th Congressional District, Westchester and the Hudson Valley. It is frankly unacceptable to just relocate clients to distant locations. Thank you to Attorney General Letitia James for being a leader for our state on this pressing issue.’”
“‘Today House Republicans are forcing a vote on a budget that betrays middle- and working-class Americans, all to pay for giveaways to billionaires,’ Rep. George Latimer of Westchester County wrote on X before the vote.”
“George Latimer, (D-Rye), 16th District voted nay. ‘Like many House Democrats, I am extremely concerned about the House Republican budget plan that just passed the House, and how it would affect families in my district. The cuts needed for these tax breaks will mean over 196,000 residents in my district are at risk of losing Medicaid coverage. This includes 73,000 children and 27,000 seniors. This budget plan also threatens 74,000 people who count on SNAP to put food on the table. Republicans have promised to lower costs, but this budget won’t do that at all.
“‘The mission behind [the resolution] is to open up enough financial wherewithal to give more tax cuts to the wealthiest people and the most successful corporations,’ says Congressman George Latimer, a Democrat from the 16th District. ‘That can’t possibly be why we exist in this country. We want a strong America, because we want the middle and the poor classes of this country to share in American success.’”
“‘Like many House Democrats I am clear-eyed about this plan and how it will affect families in Westchester and in the Bronx,’ Latimer said. ‘This budget is a direct attack on the working and the middle class, all while handing more than $4.5 trillion in tax breaks for the wealthiest in our society.’”

WASHINGTON, DC – Tonight Congressman George Latimer (NY-16) voted against the House Republican’s budget plan that would hand more than $4.5 trillion in tax breaks to billionaires while cutting Medicare and SNAP benefits for working-and-middle class families:
“Like many House Democrats, I am extremely concerned about the House Republican budget plan that just passed the House, and how it would affect families in my district.
“‘This bill would be better named the Stop All Voter Engagement Act because that is what it will do. U.S. citizens have the right to vote in national elections, period. We should be making it easier for people to vote, not harder,’ said Rep. Latimer. ‘It is already illegal for noncitizens to vote, it happens incredibly rarely, and if it does, there is a legal penalty. Instead, this disastrous bill will make it harder for women and college students to vote.’”
WHITE PLAINS, NY – Today U.S. Representative George Latimer (NY-16) released the following statement after the Social Security Administration announced that it is closing the White Plains hearing office:
“‘This bill would be better named the Stop Voter Engagement Act because that is what it will do. U.S. citizens have the right to vote in national elections, period. We should be making it easier for people to vote, not harder,’ said Rep. Latimer. ‘It is already illegal for noncitizens to vote, it happens incredibly rarely, and if it does, there is a legal penalty.
